The River Coquet rises high in The Cheviot hills and winds its way down the Coquet Valley, growing wider and more confident with every mile. Its icy waters rush and gurgle over rocks and under small bridges on its meandering route through the sheep flecked landscape. The flat, sheep cropped “haugh” at Shillmoor is a perfect place to stop and enjoy the river’s tuneful progress. Here the rocks form a natural pool, popular with picnickers and “wild swimmers” with strong constitutions. I always stop there for a few minutes of peaceful contemplation, unless someone else is already parked there, in which case I leave them to enjoy this unspoiled place alone.
This image of Shillmoor was painted on midsummer’s day, with buttercups, gorse and broom creating yellow splashes in the vivid green landscape.
Like all of my standard prints, this is printed with a white border, on a heavy duty matt archival quality paper, using pigment based professional colours, to produce a fine quality print that will give decades of pleasure.
