Alnwick from Snableazes  Print 0034

Show your love for the bees with this bright and breezy print.

This field at Snableazes, near the Ratcleugh Observatory is the most colourful field I've ever seen in Northumberland. It was planted with a huge variety of plants to attract pollinators- crimson Italian clover, with its huge elongated pompom flowers, comfrey, vetches, bird’s foot trefoil, red and white clover, yellow rattle, daisies, forget- me- nots, alkanet, bugle, poppies, cornflowers, viper’s bugloss and many, many more. It was dazzlingly spectacular.

My image is of a perfect sunny summer's day, when the colourful field was buzzing with insects, drowsy in the heat and drunk on nectar. The market town of Alnwick is in the distant background, with fields of pale ripe wheat, fringed with mature trees in the middle ground. Perfection.
