Bamburgh Sunset
This vibrant sunset was a particularly exciting painting to create. I used various different, experimental techniques to achieve the whispy, almost pearlescent translucent areas in the sky- then more solid brushwork over the top, where required.
Like a real sunset, it shifted and changed as I was working.... and I could feel myself submerged in the glowing light and incremental change. But eventually I had to step away from the easel before I painted it into night.....
This painting was created using Artist's acrylic paints on a canvasboard. It has been given two layers of matt UVA protective varnish, to help guard the surface against light and mechanical damage in years to come.
The painted image is 30 by 40 cm. It is ready to hang and framed in a bespoke "double" frame, making the the outer dimensions of the framed work 45 by 55.5 cm.
