Daffodils For Great Uncle William Print 0029

A family fable to share- and a reminder that sometimes we take things for granted.

The original painting "More Daffodils for Great Uncle William" was one of a series of “family history” paintings I created for a solo exhibition at The Tom McGuiness Gallery in Bishop Auckland in County Durham. The blue and white coffeepot was one that had been passed down through the family, but never actually used in my lifetime. The pocket watch belonged to my late Grandfather.

The "Uncle William" of the title is my GG Uncle, who emigrated to Nova Scotia in Canada to be manager of a coal mine in 1865. It was a wild, dangerous and rough place to live at that time.... So it's surprising that the story has come down through the generations that seeing daffodils in Spring was the one thing he missed about his native home in Shincliffe, County Durham, in the North East of England!

Printed with a white border, on a heavy duty matt, archival quality paper, using pigment based professional colours, to produce a fine quality print that will give decades of pleasure.  Handwritten title and Artist's signature.   Shipped rolled, without mount, ready to frame.

SIZE- Coloured area of print 29 cm x 34.5 cm
