The Simonside Hills embrace the villages of Rothbury, Thropton and Hepple. The distinctive profile, is a familiar backdrop. The sloping fields stretch like a patchwork quilt, down to the golf course. Meanwhile, the River Coquet carves its meandering way through the valley. It's a slowly shifting landscape, where the river alters its course with every flood, sandbanks and gravel beds forming and disappearing.
