Painted using a limited palette of soft blues and greys, this small original work sits comfortably in both contemporary and traditional interiors, offering a calm, atmospheric presence.
The trees stand proudly on the edge of the River Coquet as it glides past Thrum Mill on its journey to the coast. Beautiful in every season, they are at their most striking when silhouetted against fresh snow. The Thrum lies just downstream of Rothbury and has long been a favourite walking and picnic spot for locals and visitors alike. The picturesque Thrum Mill has also featured extensively on Channel Four’s The Restoration Man with George Clarke.
It is a rewarding subject to paint, with the narrow gorge creating a dramatic interplay of deep shadow and bright reflection as the river spills over the mill’s weir and threads its way through the rocks
It was painted using Artist's professional acrylic paints on a textured heavy weight paper.
It is ready to hang, and framed in a bespoke solid oak frame which is 26 cm square. The painted area is 12 cm square.
Small enough to hang anywhere- an awkward space or on a staircase, but with enough presence to always look great- singly or as a group. Hang them in blocks, vertical rows ot horizonal lines.
