Late summer sunsets on Bamburgh Beach are often spectacular. From this viewpoint the Castle sits solid and solitary on the horizon, while the light and colours slowly shift and change from blues to warm earth colours. Sky, sea and sand become indistinguishable and it is transformed into an unfamiliar, timeless place.
Only the lights shining out from the Castle remind the viewer that they have not been magically transported back in history.
