Christmas is a family time- full of memories of happy times past and anticipation of good times ahead.
Every February, I paint the six small paintings that are destined to become that year's Christmas cards selection. They're filled with images of my grandchildren, set in familiar places and overlaid with recollections of the adventures we've enjoyed together. They always hope to see snow at Christmas- so I paint it for them.
One of the things I love about Christmas, is having small children visit the gallery with a parent, to enable them to buy a gift for the other parent. Invariably the child knows exactly what Mummy or Daddy wants (probably because they have been staring into the window and coached in exactly what to choose.) They take this job very seriously and usually decline my offer of gift wrapping because they want to do it themselves! This painting shows a happy shopper walking home through Rothbury with their precious purchase.
It was painted onto textured heavy weight paper, using Artist's professional acrylic paints.
It is ready to hang, and framed in a bespoke solid oak frame which is 26 cm square. The painted area is 12 cm square.
This series of small paintings are small enough to hang anywhere- an awkward space or on a staircase, but with enough presence to always look great- singly or as a group. Hang them in blocks, vertical rows or horizonal lines.
