This small painting is of Northumberland's Cheviots, looking from Thrunton. It's a broad, breathtaking vista, of patchwork fields diminishing into the distance.
Thrunton Woods have long been a favourite place for walking and hiking, but after Storm Arwen in 2021, many of the trees suffered damage. It took a long time to clear the fallen trees and clear to the pathways to make them safe for use once more. The landscape is now much more open, and shadowy pathways, now open to the sky. It will be interesting to see it change in future years.
This work was painted onto textured heavy weight paper, using Artist's professional acrylic paints.
It is framed in a bespoke solid oak frame which is 26 cm square, and is ready to hang. The painted area is 12 cm square.
This series of small paintings are small enough to hang anywhere- an awkward space or on a staircase, but with enough presence to always look great- singly or as a group. Hang them in blocks, vertical rows or horizonal lines.
