Christmas is a family time- full of memories of happy times past and anticipation of good times ahead.
Every February, I paint the six small paintings that are destined to become that year's Christmas cards selection. They're filled with images of my grandchildren, set in familiar places and overlaid with recollections of the adventures we've enjoyed together. They always hope to see snow at Christmas- so I paint it for them.
We live and have a gallery on Bridge Street in Rothbury. So this painting shows the bridge in question- with the popular route down onto the river side pathway below. And if when there is snow, it's the perfect place to pull a small child on a sledge and there have to be some snowballs!
This small original painting was painted onto textured heavy weight paper, using Artist's professional acrylic paints.
It is ready to hang, and framed in a bespoke solid oak frame which is 26 cm square. The painted area is 12 cm square.
This series of small paintings are small enough to hang anywhere- an awkward space or on a staircase, but with enough presence to always look great- singly or as a group. Hang them in blocks, vertical rows or horizonal lines.
