Bamburgh Castle Reflections Print 0041
Certain to remind you of happy times spent enjoying one of the UK's best known and loved castles. Set on a rocky plateau high above the Northumberland coastline, Bamburgh Castle is a dramatic and imposing sight from every angle.
It has long been a favourite subject for artists, photographers and TV and film makers alike, and has featured in too many films and TV series to list. It was painted in various moods by JMW Turner on his first visit to Northumberland in 1797 and several on subsequent visits to the area.
In my own painting, as seen in this print, I show a bright early summer's day, from the tide line. The receding sea had left a thin wash of water across the beach, reflecting the solid mass of the castle. Couples, dog walkers and families were enjoying a bracing walk on the sands.
