Snowy Simonside Print 0035

In mid January we had a few days when the temperature suddenly plummeted and we had a fresh fall of snow. My husband, daughter, toddler grandson and I all wrapped up warmly and ventured out for a bracing walk to enjoy this winter wonderland. We walked up the steep footpath from Addycombe Gardens to Hillside Road, with the grandbairn examining every skeleton leaf, twig, insect and discarded sweetie wrapper as is the way of two year olds.

Once up on Hillside Road we jumped on the thick crust of ice that had transformed the puddles. The houses in Jubilee Crescent looked quaint and cosy with their snowy roofs. The village of Rothbury itself was hidden in the dip, but Simonside seemed mysterious and aloof in the distance. The sinking sun in a pearlescent sky made the shadows in the snow appear pale blue, with peach highlights.

But as the sun was setting quickly, we knew we couldn't linger and we set off briskly back down the hill to a cup of tea and the warm wood stove.

Like all of my standard prints, this is printed with a white border, on a heavy duty matt archival quality paper, using pigment based professional colours, to produce a fine quality print that will give decades of pleasure.  Title and artist's signature on the lower edge of the border. Shipped rolled, without mount, ready to frame.
