Amble From Across the Estuary Print 0091
On its way to the sea, The River Coquet meanders calmly through some of the most beautiful parts of Northumberland. Just before it joins the sea at Amble, it loops back on itself, towards Warkworth, creating an area of low lying, saltmarsh. All year round this tidal area is rich with a surprising variety of wading and migrating birds.
Just across the estaury lies the port of Amble- once a busy fishing port, it has recently been transformed into a vibrant holiday destination. The marina glitters with the masts of yachts, and the brightly coloured new developments vie for the eye with the vibrant rosebay willowherb.
This is a view of contrasts between the natural and man made world.
