Autumn Walk to Thrum Mill- Original Painting

Regular price £195.00

The Thrum is a popular short walk down the River Coquet from the centre of Rothbury. Here the river changes character from its slow meander through fields, and the village as it's funnelled through a deep, narrow gorge carved by nature through local sandstone. The stately waters pick up speed to become a rushing, gushing cascade.

Thrum Mill was built there to take advantage of this perfect location for a water driven corn mill. Abandoned in the 1960s, it later underwent major restoration, and featured in Channel Four’s ‘Restoration Man’ with George Clark in 2013. It remains a much loved family home.

This painting has a painted area of 20 by 20cm.  It was painted on canvas board using finest quality Artists' Acrylic paint and has been finished with two layers of UVA protective matt varnish, to guard against light and mechanical damage.

It is ready to hang and framed in a bespoke "double" frame, without glass. The outer dimensions of the framed work is 35 cm square.
