One of summertime family rituals is to go over to the Farne Islands on a boat trip from Seahouses. It's always a great experience, with lots of different seabirds to spot, but the puffins are  my favourites.  I never tire of watching these colouful little birds going about their daily business of fishing and flying back to their burrows with beaks full of sand eels.  They have to work hard to find and catch their food, and once back to the islands, they have to avoid being "mugged" by gulls who try to steal their catches.  This poor bird circled round and round before coming in to land,  avoiding the opportunistic gulls trying to get an easy meal. This one finally made it to the family burrow with catch intact to feed its chick.

This painting was created using Artist's acrylic paints on a canvasboard.

The painted image is 30 by 40 cm. It  is ready to hang and framed in a bespoke "double" frame, making the the outer dimensions of the framed work 45 by 55.5 cm.
