Walking Hadrian's Wall Two By Two Print 0072
Framed by a dramatic dip in Hadrian’s Wall, this iconic sycamore stood for generations as one of the North East’s most loved and photographed landmarks. Nestled into the curve of the ancient Roman frontier, it became a quiet focal point for countless walkers, photographers and history lovers who made the pilgrimage along the Wall. Its sudden and illegal felling in September 2023 sent shockwaves far beyond Northumberland, leaving a raw gap in a landscape that had seemed timeless.
This print captures the spirit of that place as it was. In the foreground, a cow and her calf graze peacefully on the rich green slopes, utterly unconcerned by the steady stream of boots and backpacks tracing the line of the Wall above them. Life carries on, just as it has for centuries, shaped by weather, stone and soil. The scene is gentle and grounded, a moment of rural calm set against one of Britain’s most powerful historic backdrops.
Like all of my standard prints, this is printed with a white border, on a heavy duty matt archival quality paper, using pigment based professional colours, to produce a fine quality print that will give decades of pleasure. Title and artist's signature on the lower edge of the border. Shipped rolled, without mount, ready to frame.
